Mountain Law 2021 : what you need to know

Since November 1, 2021, the Mountain Law has been in force in our department. It imposes, every winter (from 1 November to 31 March), specific equipment for driving in mountainous areas, such as Pra Loup.

In concrete terms, to access the station legally and safely, your vehicle must be equipped with:

  • Either four winter tyres (or 4-season certified),
  • Either chains or snow socks on board, ready to be installed on at least two drive wheels.

This equipment is mandatory for all light vehicles, utility vehicles and motorhomes, even if the snow has not yet fallen.

Our tips for a serene journey to the mountains

  • Check your itinerary before leaving (beware of closed passes in winter).
  • Anticipate weather conditions, by consulting the resort’s weather or local road alerts.
  • Think about your safety : yellow vest, triangle, scraper, blanket, flashlight… It’s better to plan ahead!
  • Take a regular break on the way, especially if you are coming from far away (Paris, Marseille, Lyon…).
