Pra Loup, a responsible destination

Pra Loup, a responsible destination
Pra Loup, Mercantour An exceptional territory to be preserved together
Here, the mountains are not just a playground: they are a living, fragile and precious space.
Pra Loup is part of the municipality of Uvernet-Fours, 46% of whose territory is located in the heart of the Mercantour National Park, one of the ten French national parks. A natural setting where more than 2,000 plant species coexist – 220 of which are protected – and emblematic animals such as the wolf, the bearded vulture, the chamois and the golden eagle. In addition to this biodiversity, there are cultural, geological and agricultural heritages of rare richness.
This strong link with the Mercantour commits us on a daily basis. In Pra Loup, the mountains are committed, and the actions are concrete, local, accessible to all.
Moving differently, at the pace of the mountains
Walking, cycling, taking a shuttle… Here, we choose to slow down, to savor the journeys as much as the destinations.
They allow you to move easily (and for free!) between the resort, Barcelonnette, the surrounding villages, hiking sites or local markets. A simple and ecological way to discover the territory, while reducing its impact.
In Pra Loup and throughout the Ubaye valley, free shuttles are set up to limit the use of private cars.

Our commitments:

Simple gestures, a collective conscience
Initiatives such as “Kiff ta montagne“, which invites everyone to pick up one piece of waste per day, or the annual cleaning of the ski area, are part of this desire to do better, together.
Even our development projects are adapting: during the creation of the 4-season sled, several protected martagon lily plants were carefully moved. Every detail counts.
Sensitive areas respected
Some areas, such as the black grouse’s quiet areas, are deliberately left out. They are essential refuges for the balance of the local fauna and flora.
At the Tourist Office, the Atlas of Municipal Biodiversity reveals the treasures – sometimes invisible – that populate our valley.

Learning and transmitting
Throughout the summer, free nature workshops, led in partnership with the Mercantour National Park, are offered for young and old. The opportunity to learn more about Alpine biodiversity, in all simplicity.

Reducing and better sorting waste in Pra Loup
In Pra Loup, as in the entire Ubaye Serre-Ponçon Valley, everyone can contribute to preserving our mountain environment by adopting the right gestures on a daily basis. Reducing waste, sorting it better, using voluntary drop-off points or recovering bio-waste are all simple actions that help protect our valley.
The Ubaye Serre-Ponçon Valley Community of Municipalities provides a practical waste guide and a memo to help residents, visitors, homeowners and professionals adopt the right reflexes. These supports make it easy to know where to dispose of each piece of waste and how to limit its environmental impact during your stay.
