LØÜ
Mountain beer sparkling in Pra Loup
At an altitude of 1,596 metres, nestled in the heart of the Pra Loup resort, a craft microbrewery is reinventing local beer. Its name: LØÜ. Its promise: an authentic mountain beer, brewed by hand, in a family home transformed into a brewing workshop.
Behind this project, an unlikely and complementary duo: Estelle David, a Quebec microbiologist with a passion for fermentation, and Ken Boeri, a ski instructor from Pra Loup. Together, they made the bold bet of creating a beer that reflects their territory — lively, sincere and rooted.
The adventure begins in 2022 with the first tests. Their very first vintage, the PrimoLØÜ, almost ended up in the sink… before revealing a surprisingly promising taste. Enough to give confidence to go further. It will take two years of testing, development and adjustment to officially launch production in the summer of 2024. Human-sized brews, original recipes (PrimoLØÜ, high-altitude beers), good humour and rigour: here, everything is homemade, for two, with a smile and the desire to keep Pra Loup alive all year round. “Loving beer is good. Loving the dishes and getting up early is better! — Ken & Estelle, brewers of Pra Loup
Brewed with pure mountain water, LØÜ is distinguished by its limited quantities, its artisanal standards and its desire to remain 100% local. Crushing, brewing, fermentation, bottling… Each step is carefully followed in their perched microbrewery. Estelle devotes herself to it full-time, while Ken juggles between tanks and slopes, teaching skiing in winter.
More than a product, the LØÜ embodies a state of mind: that of a territory that lives all year round, that cultivates its know-how, and that dares to innovate with simplicity. It accompanies the end of the day with friends, snacks in refuges or convivial meals after a hike.
She is recognizable by her atypical name, a nod to their roots and their freedom of tone. A high-altitude beer, like them. Handmade, local, lively.
