Climb to Pra Loup
A climb worthy of a stage finish of the Tour de France
Since 1975 with the victory of Bernard Thevenet over Eddy Merckx and the Tour de France in 2015, the climb to Pra Loup has become a must for cyclists.
From Barcelonnette, we first cross the bridge over the Ubaye River then we take the common road to the Col d’Allos.
The road thus far flat, begins to rise. Shortly after, we leave the main road to the Col d’Allos to turn right towards Pra Loup.
The climb, properly speaking, starts here. The road quickly becomes very steep, reaching 10% in places. A good road surface means you can ascend with good speed without having to re-launch too often.
This climb is particularly interesting for its panoramic views, and for the physical effort that will appeal to punchers.
