Off-piste ski touring is pure adventure, virgin snow, immaculate landscapes.<br\/>But be careful: the mountains don&#8217;t give gifts. <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>The best advice we can give you: ask the guide office or a ski school.<\/strong>  And above all, go accompanied by a mountain professional (guide or qualified instructor). Perhaps our site is taking a little nap\u2026<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"wp-block-ws-library-ws-title\"><h2>Preparing your <strong>ski touring<\/strong> equipment<\/h2><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ws-library-ws-title\"><h3>On the ski side<\/h3><\/div>\n\n<p>Ski touring requires specific equipment:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Touring or splitboard skis<\/strong> (for snowboarders), with <strong>free-heel bindings on the way up<\/strong> and blocked on the way down.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Some bindings offer <strong>climbing cleats<\/strong>, useful on steep slopes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <strong>skins<\/strong>, glued under the skis, prevent you from backing up on the way up.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A<strong> pair of classic or telescopic poles<\/strong>, essential for keeping balance, especially when going uphill. The telescopic models allow the length to be adapted to the terrain. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ws-library-ws-title\"><h3>Safety equipment<\/h3><\/div>\n\n<p>For any outing outside the secure routes, it is essential to leave:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>An <strong>avalanche transceiver<\/strong> (Avalanche Victim Detector).  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A <strong>shovel<\/strong> (metal, not plastic)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A <strong>probe<\/strong> (aluminum or carbon, light and resistant)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A<strong> charged phone<\/strong>, stored in an easy-to-access pocket. The <strong>emergency number is 112<\/strong>. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A <strong>first aid kit<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bonus: an <strong>airbag bag<\/strong>, although expensive, can increase your chances in the event of an avalanche. It remains optional but recommended for committed outings. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ws-library-ws-button has-text-align-left is-style-2\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.praloup.com\/en\/shops-and-restaurants\/shops\/\" class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button btn\">  I rent my equipment<\/a><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ws-library-ws-featured-content is-style-picto-topo\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-ws-library-ws-title\"><h2>Our advice<\/h2><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Choose a <strong>good avalanche transceiver<\/strong>, with a wide field of research (3-antenna models have become the norm)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Always use new and good quality <strong>batteries<\/strong> . The avalanche transceiver must display at least 90% battery at the start. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>During the search, <strong>keep your phone more than 30 cm away from the avalanche transceiver<\/strong> to avoid interference.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Probe with gloves <\/strong>: you stay warm and prevent ice from forming on the probe, which could block it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>And above all&#8230; Work out.<\/strong>  Again and again.
